ABOUT THIS SPECIES

Lamprolepis smaragdina, commonly called the Emerald Tree Skink, is a small, agile, arboreal lizard native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia and surrounding islands. Its vibrant green coloration allows it to blend seamlessly into leaves and canopy foliage.

This diurnal species is highly active and spends much of its time climbing branches and perching among vegetation while foraging for insects and other small prey. Its slender body and long tail aid balance and mobility in dense arboreal habitats.

In captivity, Emerald Tree Skinks thrive in tall, planted enclosures that provide climbing opportunities, hiding spots, and maintained humidity. Regular feeding of insects and occasional fruits supports their omnivorous diet, while a misted environment encourages natural hydration and behaviour.
