ABOUT THIS SPECIES

This species is primarily diurnal and often hunts amphibians and small fish in shallow water, though it will also forage on land for lizards. Its behaviour includes frequent swimming and movement along the edges of streams or ponds.

In captivity, semi-aquatic setups with both terrestrial and aquatic areas, adequate hiding spots, and clean water are essential to replicate its natural habitat. Providing a water area encourages natural hunting behaviour, while branches and substrates allow the snake to rest and explore.
