Setting up

Heating: Warm side surface temperature of 28–32°C under a heat mat or low-wattage overhead heat source, with the cool side around 24–26°C. A night-time drop to 18–22°C is natural and beneficial.

Humidity: 30–40% ambient, letting the enclosure dry fully between light mistings. Always provide a humid hide with damp sphagnum moss, particularly during shedding.

UVB: A 6% UVB tube along most of the vivarium's width, with the basking spot about 20–30cm from the lamp. Low-level UV supports long-term health and calcium metabolism.

Diet: Live invertebrates such as crickets, dubia roaches and mealworms, with waxworms as an occasional treat. Feed juveniles every other day and adults every 2–3 days. Gut-load prey and dust with calcium and vitamin D3 at most feedings.

About the Leopard Gecko Setup

Leopard geckos are hardy, handleable and easy to feed, which makes them one of the best first reptiles. As a ground-dwelling species they need floor space more than height, so every setup uses a Viperia PVC vivarium of at least 90×45×45cm. Pick the tier that suits your space and budget, then add a spare enclosure for quarantine or a hatchling if you need one.
